Digital Imaging Specialist

As Digital Imaging Specialist for the Center for Digital Initiatives, Ben is primarily responsible for overseeing the scanning process and assessing quality control issues involved in materials' digitization. Ben also provides graphic design assistance to Library units, contributing to a variety of print- and Web-based projects.
Ben began working at the Brown Library on a half-time basis in 2004, as Rare Book Digitizer and then as Assistant Digital Image Librarian, primarily dealing with photography of rare materials for the Center for Digital Initiatives.
Ben earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hampshire College (Amherst, MA; "Sociology of Aesthetics" concentration) and his MLIS from the University of Rhode Island. Previous to librarianship, Ben was employed in a range of graphics production and design capacities, as well as a freelance designer.
