Robin Ness

Robin is principally responsible for shaping digital collections, and overseeing the production of digital assets in the Center for Digital Initiatives. Robin has worked in the Brown University Library since 1990, and has held positions in Special Collections, Technical Services, the Serials Department, and the Bindery. Robin joined the Center in 2005, after having served as a member of the Digital Initiatives Group, and having worked on Brown University Library's premiere digital project, African American Sheet Music.
Robin works closely with students, faculty, and donors in the creation of contextual materials, enhancing the scholarly value of Brown's Digital Collections and Projects. She manages the center's daily production, assists with metadata creation, and is responsible for quality control of image files. Robin is also responsible for the design of the Library's Digital Collection & Project websites, and promotional materials.
In addition to her work in digital project and visual resource management, she also lends support to artists working within a collective on the west coast of Sweden; most recently organizing a show entitled "Uncanny Providence" at the Holden Street Gallery. She co-instructed a workshop on "The Uncanny and the Creative Process", delivering a presentation entitled "Trace and Aura in Photography" at Linköping University. Robin travels to Sweden several times a year and is currently working on a series of paintings of Nordic memorial stones located south of Gothenburg.
Robin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Illustration from The Rhode Island School of Design.
