Catherine Gick joined the staff of the Center for Digital Initiatives in September of 2006 as a Metadata Librarian. In this position she provides descriptive metadata for digital projects of the Library and Brown such as the Literary Arts Program Writer's Online; provides training and review of metadata production of such projects as the Anne S.K. Brown Digital Collection; and assists with the development and ongoing review of local policies and procedures for metadata creation. In addition to her work as Metadata Librarian, Catherine acts as Music Catalog Librarian for the Library.

Catherine holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Evansville in Indiana as well as a Masters of Library Science with a Specialization in Music from Indiana University. While at IU, she concentrated much of her studies on cataloging, subject access systems, and metadata. Prior to her work at Brown, Catherine served as Music Librarian at Vanderbilt University where she was the music cataloger and also played a vital role in the planning and implementation of various digital initiatives for the library.
