In the town of Cocospera on May 20, 1832 the nine patriotic Pueblos of Cuenape, Tuape, San Ignacio, Santa Magdalena, Yumais, Cocospera, Tumacacori, San Javier del Bac, and Tucson reunited, in front of the border against the enemy Apaches; [the towns] agreed to convene all the officers of their respective bodies to name a prime Leader of the Division and a second in command for the demands of the war: and so, they went together to join in the lounge [where the convene was to take place] of this nominated Pueblo the other Officers; and with an absolute majority of the votes, they provided to name a leader of the respectable meeting, who was C[aptain] Ignacio Elias, the mayor Andres Granillo,

Joaquin Suares and C[aptain] Jose Juan Perez, [objected], but regardless by a majority of the votes Joaquin Vicente Elias was named the prime leader of the mentioned bodies, and C[aptain] Ramon Dezca [was elected] as second in command, later, being present all those affected and for better order, [they] disposed to create the following articles:

1. - That H[is] E[xcellency] the Governor of the State and Commanding General will immediately be informed of this record with the purpose that the law follows its course.

2. - That the Executive of the State and the Commanding General have the dignity of approving the appointed positions made on this date in los Cinos.

3. - That the superior authorities of the State approve all the disposed by these leaders in the Field of operations against the enemy Apache.

4. - That H[is] E[xcellency] the Governor

and the Commanding General give authentic testimony with official notes to be pleased with all that is disposed in this record through their public correspondence.

5. - To give to the Executive of the State and the Commanding General all the respect, reverence, and obedience to their superior orders

6. - That on the twenty-first of this month, of the year eighteen thirty-two, a Division will march to Tucson to have its last reunion, and from there act accordingly to the changes that the enemy has made.


7. - That the Commander of the 1st Section of operations over the Line of the North, C[aptain] Leonardo Leon be informed that if need may be he may count of these patriotic bayonets.

8. – That the Leader of this section with be given the office of the Leader

of the Patriotic Section.

9. - For the Executive of the State to present our special efforts and thusly inviting other Pueblos to go out on a second campaign, always counting on the rest of the men that are left in our homes.
