D.E. and entered the distribution of prey and horses, do not doubt the approval of the General Commander.
On today’s day I inform the Commanding General, what I have the honor of copying to Y[our] E[xcellency].
“When I received the note from Y[ou] S[ir]. on the 1st of this month in which several articles were reinstated from the act that got in the Patriotic Division in Cocospera; which in time could be accomplished; I did not complain to the people who accompanied me to avoid the feelings that Y[ou] S[ir], does not doubt result in these cases."
"When I told Y[ou] S[ir]. for your superior knowledge and approval, the horses that the Apache took were returned to their owners and those without owners I raffled away to the citizens who accompanied me, the [tiny] Indians that were imprisoned I left to the ones that who captured them because this seemed fair: only three mules, also belonging to the Indians, did I give as a gift to the widow of Reyes Somosa: According your note I did not act according to your intention, but this was because I received [the note] when it was too late, which must have been
That which I write to Y[our] E[xcellency] is in response to your note from the 8th of this month, which I have just received protesting my thoughts and appreciation.
