Downloading Instructions
Our virtual exhibitions require The Live Picture® Zoom Viewer 3.2 for Windows 95/NT and Macintosh. Please read the instructions and requirements below before downloading. 

Macintosh Minimum system requirements

Make sure you have at least these minimum system requirements

  • Power Macintosh 6100 
  • System 7.6.1 or higher 
  • 16 MB RAM 
  • 256 color display (thousands highly recommended) 
  • Netscape Navigator 3.01 or 4.0, or Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 3.0 or 4.0
1) Click on the Live Picture download link below.  Your computer will download a compressed file (lpviewer32.sea.hqx) which should expand automatically, using a program called Stuffit Expander.  If you do not have Stuffit Expander, you can obtain a copy at http:// www.aladdinsys.com.

2) Quit all open browsers (i.e. Netscape, Internet Explorer) by choosing “quit” (in Netscape) or “close” (in Internet Explorer) from the File menu .  Go to your Desktop and double click on the "Live Picture Plugin Installer" icon.  Follow the instructions to install the Live Picture software.  Your computer will prompt you to save the Live Picture program (not the aforementioned installation file); save it in the "Plugins" folder in your browser’s directory.  Make sure to note where you save the program. 

4)  When the installation is complete, restart and allocate at least 16MB of RAM to your browser. Go to the Museum Loan Network homepage, http://loanet.mit.edu/.  From there you can follow the links to view the MLN 3D virtual exhibitions.

Click on Live Picture® Zoom Viewer 3.2 to download for the Macintosh. 


Windows Minimum system requirements

Make sure you have at least these minimum system requirements
 

  • 486/DX Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 
  • Minimum 16 MB RAM; 32 MB recommended 
  • 256 color display (thousands highly recommended) 
  • Netscape Navigator 3.01 or 4.0, or Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 3.0 or 4.0 
1) Click on the Live Picture download link below.  Your computer will save the installation file (lpviewer32.exe) to a location of your choice.  If possible, save the file to your Desktop; if not, make sure to note where you save the file.

2) Quit all open browsers (i.e. Netscape, Internet Explorer) by choosing “exit” (in Netscape) or “close” (in Internet Explorer) from the File menu .  Double click on the installation icon (if you didn't save it on your desktop, you can find it by doing a "Find" operation:  choose "Find - Files or Folders" from the Start menu on your computer's lower left corner, and type "*lpviewer*.*").

3) Follow the instructions to install the Live Picture software.  Your computer will prompt you to save the Live Picture program (not the aforementioned installation file) to a location; make sure to note where you save the program.

4) When the installation is complete, restart your browser.  Go to the Museum Loan Network homepage, http://loanet.mit.edu/.  From there you can follow the links to view the MLN 3D virtual exhibitions.

Click on Live Picture® Zoom Viewer 3.2 to download for Windows.
