An American Sampler

An American Sampler is MLN's inaugural on-line exhibition comprised of images chosen from the MLN Directory in honor of Museum Day 1998. The "sampler" focuses on objects from North, Central and South America that are presently included in the directory. (Due to copyright restrictions, we are unable to display images created by known 20th century artists at this time). The MLN Directory presently includes over 6000 geographically diverse works of art and objects of cultural heritage from all time periods. These objects, which are available for long-term loan to the museum community, also include many 20th century paintings and sculptures by modern and contemporary artists such as Noguchi, Nauman, Serra, and Piper. If you are interested in learning more about this extraordinary resource, please click on Museum Loan Network Directory. Find out how your institution can get a password and start looking -- so that your museum can create its own long-term loan exhibition in "real time."
