Demonstration Projects
funded by the Museum Loan Network are examples of various approaches to connecting oral histories to objects of cultural heritage. The Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center and the African American Museum in Philadelphia received MLN survey grants in 2003 that included an oral history component.
Four of these demonstration projects: The Field Museum, Japanese American National Museum, Judah L. Magnes Museum, and The National Civil Rights Museum, received additional funds from the MLN in 2005 to include an audio-visual component and to document oral histories in conjunction with the Collecting Stories: Connecting Objects initiative. Each of these four CS:CO demonstration projects will be featured on this website as a work in progress to make accessible the processes of cataloging collections in this way so that others may learn from these institutions’ experiences.
