Insight Enabled Image Collections

The following collections are available through Luna Insight software. For full functionality, download a java client for the Brown University Image Collection. From the menu in the Brown client, the other collections listed below can be accessed. Cross collection searching is possible in the client version of Insight. Each collection can also be viewed on the web at the urls provided below. The map collections also provide a GIS browser.
AMICA Library (Restricted Content)
AMICA is a growing collection of more than 100,000 works of art digitized by museums in the United States, Canada, and Britain. The library presently consists of works from Europe, including ancient Greece and Rome; works from North America, including Pre-Columbian (Meso-American) art; works from Asia, including ancient Asia Minor; works from Africa including ancient Egypt; works from South America; and works from Oceania.
Brown University Image Collection (Some Content Restricted)
The digital images presented here have been assembled from various sources to enhance educational endeavors at Brown University and beyond. Subject matter is diverse; consult the list of Categories available on the Search menu. All images may be used only for teaching, research, personal study, or course assignments not intended for publication. When downloaded from Luna Insight, the restricted images may be placed on course web sites, if access to the images is limited to the Brown University community. Use of images acquired from vendors is subject to the applicable license terms.
Farber Gravestone Collection
The Farber Gravestone Collection consists of more than 13,500 images documenting the sculpture on more than 9,000 gravestones, most of which were made prior to 1800, in the Northeastern part of the United States. The late Daniel Farber of Worcester, Massachusetts, and his wife, Jessie Lie Farber, were responsible for the largest portion of the collection. Japanese Historical Maps
The Japanese Historical Map Collection contains about 2,300 early maps of Japan and the World. The collection was acquired by the University of California from the Mitsui family in 1949, and is housed on the Berkeley campus in the East Asian Library. Represented in this online collection are about 100 maps and books from this Collection. The maps were selected by Yuki Ishimatsu, Head of Japanese Collections at the East Asian Library.
Rumsey Map Collection
The David Rumsey Historical Map Collection has more than 8,800 maps online, focucing on rare 18th and 19th century North and South American maps and other cartographic materials. Historic maps of the world, Europe, Asia, and Africa are also represented.
National Palace Museum, Taipei
This collection consists of more than 5000 images of works from the museum's permanent collection, including rare books, ceramics, paintings, bronzes, jewelry, and costumes, dating from seven millennia of Chinese history and pre-history.
