American Religion Data Archive (ARDA) holds quantitative data on a variety of topics about religion in the United States, for example churches and church membership, religious professionals, and religious groups. Center for Demography and Ecology is a research cooperative for social scientific demographic research.
Cultural Policy & the Arts National Data Archive contains data on the arts and cultural policy in the U.S., pertaining to artists, arts and cultural organizations, audiences, and funding. Department of Justice has data about crime. Federal Bureau of Investigation maintains the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, which has crime data since the mid 1990s. Gallup Poll is available in paper at the Library. This is a major survey done monthly that covers relevant themes of the time. General Social Survey (GSS) includes U.S. data since 1972 about a large variety of question, from abortion to zodiac sign.
Human Development Reports offers United Nations data pertaining development variables. Inter-University Consortium on Political and Social Research (ICPSR) has a huge archive of 6,000 studies and 450,000 files covering many subjects, such as urban studies, the environment, social indicators, etc.
International Social Survey Program is a collection of surveys about many social topics, i.e. family, identity, work, government, from 39 countries since 1985. Data need to be ordered. Latin American Women in Numbers (Mujeres Latinoamericanas en Cifras) has voting, education and economic data about women in Latin American. Site is in Spanish. Minorities at Risk Project is a database that you must download and install. Data pertains to political, economic, and cultural dimensions of 284 politically active ethnic groups throughout the world. National Center for Charitable Statistics holds data about the nonprofit organizations and their activities in the United States. Odum Institute has extensive data sources for the social sciences, mainly public opinion polls, psychological data and North Carolina Data. Pew Hispanic Center has done many surveys of the Latino community in the U.S. regarding political participation, education, culture, etc. Pew Internet and American Life Project has survey data about Internet use, for example checking email and obtaining information online. U.S. Census Bureau contains a huge data set from the census in 2000. Downloadable numeric data is available and a map making service is provided for the data.
World Database of Happiness has survey data about happiness from over a 100 countries since 1946. World Values Survey has data from four major surveys (1981, 1990, 1995 and 1999-2001) from many countries in the world. The survey asks dozen of questions concerning politics, gender issues, religion, economic inequality, etc. Survey data available through a World Values Survey search at ICPSR .
