Presenters' Biographies:

Anny Ballardini lives in Bolzano, Italy. She grew up in New York, and has lived in New Orleans, Buenos Aires, and Florence. A poet, translator and interpreter, she also teaches high school; edits Poets' Corner, an online poetry site; and writes a blog (Narcissus Works). She has translated several contemporary poets into Italian and English. Her book of poems, Opening and Closing Numbers, was published by Moria Press in 2005.

Henry Gould is a staff member of Brown University Library. His poetry, reviews and essays have appeared in various journals. His books of poetry include Stone (Copper Beech Press, 1979) and Stubborn Grew (Spuyten Duyvil Press, 2000). For several years, he edited (with Janet Sullivan) the literary magazine Nedge. He also co-edited an anthology in honor of poet/translator Edwin Honig, titled A Glass of Green Tea – with Honig (1994), and edited and published a volume of Honig's collected poems, Time & Again (2000). He currently maintains a poetry blog called HG Poetics. The bilingual edition of In RI, and other Gould publications, are available at www.lulu.com.

Peter S. Thompson studied French language and literature at Princeton and Brown Universities, and has taught French most of his life. He has traveled widely, and has made a study of the French colonial world and francophone literature. Aside from his own poetry and translations, he has edited two anthologies of French literature: Négritude et nouveaux mondes (Wayside) and Litérature moderne du monde francophone (McGraw Hill). Dr. Thompson has received several grants and awards from the Rockefeller Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Since 1995, Dr. Thompson has run a small foundation, the Murdock-Thompson Center for Teachers, and he currently teaches at Roger Williams University. Current projects include three book length translations: Léon-Paul Fargue's Prose Poems, Véronique Tadjoès Red Earth, and Nabile Farè's Hearing Your Story.
