Jessie Barker, Class of 1933

This is a gift from Edward and Judith Becker in memory of her beloved Aunt Jessie (February 21, 1913 - October 30, 2005).

Jessie Barker was a remarkable woman, graduating Phi Beta Kappa from Brown University in 1933 at the age of 20. She pursued a career in business at the Providence Journal for 44 years, retiring in 1978 as Assistant Secretary and Assistant Treasurer of the Corporation -- the first woman officer at the Journal. Throughout her long and satisfying life, Jessie was an avid reader, active alumna and loyal supporter of Brown.
