Capt. Tredwell Moore:

Born in Ohio, Tredwell Moore graduated from the U.S. Military Academy. He was a career soldier and he served in Mariposa County from 1851 to 1852. He also helped build a part of Fort Miller located on the San Joaquin River and also helped to capture and kill Native Americans responsible for the death of two miners near Bridalveil Falls. Moore also followed Chief Tenaya and other Indians across the Sierra from June and July of 1852 eventually returning in August.
