Col. Richard Coulter Drum:

Born in Greenborough, Pennsylvania, on May 28, 1825, Drum served throughout his life in the U.S Army. He served in the Mexican War, Civil War and numerous engagements against Native Americans. At the beginning of the Civil War he served as captain and assistant adjutant general of the department of the pacific. He was called east in 1866 and attained the rank of colonel in 1869.
