General John Lapham Bullis:

Born in Macedon, New York, in 1841, John Lapham Bullis enlisted in the infantry for the Civil War in 1862, and was captured at the battle of Gettysburg. After the war, he was sent to the west, serving on the border in Texas, and became a second lieutenant in 1867. His service in Texas against the Indians brought him honors from the people of the state and the Texas Legislature. Serving through the Spanish American War, he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General before he retired.
