Governor John Noble Goodwin:

Born in South Berwick, Maine, in 1824, John Noble Goodwin was a member of the Maine State Senate in 1854 before serving in Congress for two years. In 1863, he was appointed chief justice of the U.S. Court for Arizona Territory. The following year, he was appointed governor of the territory. Married to Susan Howard Robinson, and father of three children, he died in 1867 in California.
