Col./Capt. Frank Stanwood:

Born in Main in 1842, Frank Stanwood was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the 3rd Cavalry in 1861, and ended the Civil War with the brevet rank of lieutenant colonel. He became a captain in July of 1866, and arrived at Camp Goodwin in 1870. According to the 1870 census, Frank Stanwood was a twenty-eight year-old officer stationed at Camp Goodwin and owned no property of real value. In 1871 Stanwood was assigned to Camp Grant, but he was out scouting when the Camp Grant Massacre occurred. He died in Massachusetts in 1872.
