Fort Bowie:

Fort Bowie, located in southeastern Arizona, was established in 1862 at the request of the Butterfield Overland Stage company, which was experiencing difficulties with Apache raids at nearby Apache pass. The fort was located on tableland with a spring nearby. The fort later served as the headquarters for General Nelson Miles' campaign against the Apaches.
