Captain Allen Latham Anderson:

Born in Dayton, Ohio, in 1836, Allen Lathan Anderson graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 1859. From 1862 to 1865, he served as an engineer in New Mexico and Arizona, rising to the rank of brevet brigadier general. In 1864 he attended the First Arizona Legislature and designed the first territorial seal. After the Civil War, he was assigned to Fort Leavenworth.
