Lt. Alexander Grant:

Born in Canada in 1838, Alexander Grant enlisted in the military in April of 1861, and rose to the rank of sergeant major by the end of the Civil War. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1866, and rose to the rank of first lieutenant in 1868. He served at Camp McDowell in 1867, in Oregon the following year, and took part in General Crook's 1872-73 offensive against the Apaches in Arizona. He died at Camp Halleck in 1875.
